One stop shop for all your computer and office equipment needs. This area is actually a cluster of several giant tech stores. Here you can buy a digital camera, a laptop, a new cell phone, an mp3 player, surround sound speakers, printers, fax machines, Xerox copiers, writable/re-writable CDs and DVDs, thumbdrives… you get the picture. There is a little bit of room for bargaining, but usually you can only save up to 10% off the markup and they will toss in some extra freebies. On one floor there may be three or four retailers of the same brand or the same item, so take the time to comparison shop.
Something to keep in mind—none of the retailers here accept check or credit cards even on high priced items like computers. There is a Bank of China across the street, but 5000 RMB is the maximum daily withdrawal rate, so either come with cash in hand or be prepared to make another trip out another day.
