The Antidote Party

comes to Wuhan and Chongqing on March 12-13, 2010
... with special guests Chacha and DJ Drunk Monk

Friday, March 12 @ Vox, Wuhan
Saturday, March 13 @ NUTS, Chongqing

Shanghai's legendary music party crew Antidote throws its first party
of 2010 in Wuhan, and this will be the first ever Antidote in
Chongqing !!!

We are bringing one of the hottest rising talents in China -- the
singer "Chacha", with partner DJ Drunk Monk.

Guizhou native Chacha and UK's Drunk Monk first performed together
with Antidote on a crazy hot summer night at a basement banger in C's
Bar Shanghai in 2007. A couple months later the duo was performing
for thousands on the outdoor stage at Yue Music Festival, on the bill
with Faithless, Talib Kweli, Yacht, SuperVC, and Hedgehog. Since
then, Drunk Monk (founder of Uprooted Sunshine Soundsystem and
China's premeire underground DJ club, The Shelter) and Chacha have
performed with or recorded studio tracks with countless international
acts, from reggae / dub legends Adrian Sherwood, Clive Chin, Cojie,
and Vibronics, as well as Drum and Bass / Dubstep stars Goldie, Kode
9, Pinch, Disrupt, and abstract / trip hop artists like The Bug.
Chacha has also worked with reknowned Chinese producers like B6 and
Mr. Tsang.

The duo brings the sounds of the future for the first time in Wuhan
and Chongqing -- wicked dubstep, trip hop, reggae, and abstract hip
hop -- with Drunk Monk providing the big bass from the vinyl, and
Chacha rocking the mic with soaring vocals and party banging MC
skills.

http://www.myspace.cn/chachayo

This is interesting, I have been traveling to China for more than 4 years now. I just do not see a good "business network" in China that allow expats to pool together interests and ideas to gain footholds in Chongqing.

I from New York and recently remarried a local Chongqingnese. So now CQ is my China hometown. Therefore, I am very interested in starting an active CQ Business Network for expats in CQ.

With that said, I am planning to start a chain of American Style fast food business in major cities of China with CQ as the pilot. I have been in the Outsourcing business for about 8 years now. My analysis and observation of the culture of the food service industry draws me into this business opportunity.

Just a bit of background, I was born in Guangzhou area, immigrated to the US since I as 10 yearr old. My dicipline is Chemical Engineering but with 30 years of experience in major corporation and building my own business in IT solutions. I also have experience in the food services business and love to cook.

So now that I have started this "CQ business networking", hit me back, and let me know your thoughts. Love to hear from the CQ Expats.

Regards,

Hi,

I am planning to visit Chongqing in october for about 10-15 days. I
need a english speaking full time tour guide for seeing Chongqing and the countryside around. Organizing a cheap hotel, visiting
restaurants, little culture, shopping and nightlife should describe the job. Nothing special, just trying to get around a little and get to know the city.

Best and thanks for any hints

From the Federal Foreign Office

"The cultural highlight will be a German-Chinese music festival with the participation of more than 200 artists from the two countries. These will include notable German musicians such as the hip hop group Deichkind, German electro-punk bands such as Mia, as well as Fools Garden (famous for their hit "Lemon Tree"), and Corvus Corax, with their modern interpretations of mediaeval minstrel music. The programme will be rounded off with performances of German theatre classics such as "The Caucasian Chalk Circle" in its original form as a Sichuan opera, a concert by the Chongqing Symphony Orchestra with soloists from Düsseldorf, as well as numerous German-Chinese readings, films and debates on contemporary art and modern dance."

There's a China Business Network, and I'd guess 70% of the people in it are in Shanghai or Hong Kong, and another 29% in Beijing which leaves 1% scattered across this huge country. What's up with that??

Chongqing is big and developing fast so there must be business people and investors storming in right and left, how are they connecting? Please, if you have a business in Chongqing, or are planning on starting one, get connected now and start shaking things up!

Finally don't have to go all the way to Chengdu for decent Indian fare. Tell your friends to go out and support this restaurant so it doesn't go under like the others that came before it!

This is another mention courtesy of Matt S.

"Ate there last night too, outstanding food! real naan, great curries, and samosas are the real thing. the daal is underwhelming though...

anyway, here's the info:

"I just got your attention didn't you? The Intercontinental Hotel has a Mexican Buffet every Wednesday night, although I haven't gone to try yet as the price stings too much at 120 RMB per person. Looking for a more affordable Western buffet? Try Nanping's Holiday Inn for their all you can eat Western lunch buffet which doesn't sting as bad at 60 RMB offered everyday."

"If you didn't know about UBC Coffee in Jiefangbei, they are your answer to Western food in this town. Chef Troy Yin was brought in to re-do the place and he did a fantastic job. The Western food there is fantastic although the price stings a bit more than Pete's in Chengdu. Anyway, they offer a brunch deal where if you buy a coffee (20-30 RMB range), you get a free full English breakfast: eggs, fresh sausage, real bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, toast, FOR FREE. It's only during brunch times and for two hours (9-11 AM I think), but an outstanding deal if you want to treat yourself."
