Nan Bin Lu 南宾路
• Public area–Free admission; No opening/closing hours

The trendy and the nouveau riche collide here along this strip of restaurants and bars. Impress your business partners by wining and dining them in a private chandeliered room overlooking the river. Afterwards walk it off on the long riverwalk and take in the nightscape of Chongqing’s skyscrapers across the way. Or relax on giant plush couches and sip cocktails at any of the bars that line the walkway.

Bus Tip: : 南滨路(饮食街) or 国际会展中心(南桥头) + 5 RMB taxi

Chongqing You Le Yuan 重庆游乐园
• Admission 10-15 RMB + additional 10-15 RMB/ride (according to Xinhua News it costs 100 RMB to ride all the rides); Hours 9am-5pm

Carnival style rides like bumper cars and twirly cars are scattered across the city, usually in parks, but sometimes also in less obvious places (the Cultural Palace for instance). However, this is the official place to get your carnival kicks. At night you can see the massive lit-up carousel from across the river. The rides go higher and faster than their counterparts across the city–think State Fair. Ride at your own risk, the last recorded fatal accident happened in June of 2006.

Bus Tip: 国际会展中心(南桥头) or 工贸

Xing Ao Hai Di Shi Jie 兴澳海底世界
• Admission 60 RMB/adult, 30 RMB/child

This two story aquarium is the place to go if being landlocked in Chongqing makes you miss the sound and smell of the ocean. Everyday between 10-12 and 3-5 you can watch “performances” like the fish, penguin, and seal feedings, or stick around for the Dances with Sharks. Visit their official website to see some photos and a map (only available in Chinese)

Bus Tip: 国际会展中心(南桥头) or 工贸 walk towards Nanbin Road and it will be on your right
