I recently stayed there for about a week while I was looking for an apartment in Chongqing. It's great; friendly staff, lively atmosphere, decent food. I stayed in the cheapest bed: 6-person dorm. It was clean, quiet, and each bed has a little reading lamp and storage locker. I even met a couple of cool people there, my first friends in Chongqing! I'll recommend it to my friends and family when they come visit.

That really is short notice! I think you should start by trying to get in touch with someone at the Sichuan International Studies University. (SISU) it's located in Shapingba. We have a couple of Peace Corps volunteers at that school who might be good leads. Look for the website and contact their foreign teachers department as that is the department where you'll get the quickest access to Chinese staff who can facilitate the kind of thing you're looking for. Good luck!

This is very short notice but I have just discovered that I have 2 weeks off and I would like to go to Chongqing to do an intensive Mandarin course. I can already speak a bit and know about 700 characters.

So it would be really helpful if someone reading this could tell me the name of a school that teacher mandarin that could offer 5 hours of one-on-one classes a day and not too expensive. from 6th April until 19th April

I would also love to do a homestay with a family who does not speak english. Does anyone know if this is possible in Chongqing?

Many thanks!!

Google maps in English seems to have finally caught up with the Chinese version. I have updated the area maps accordingly so now the notes should be a little more user friendly for everyone. Cheers!
